Metabolic Disease includes disturbances of metabolism resulting from vitamin deficiency. Axis-Shield markets an Active-B12 assay for detection of vitamin B12 deficiency and is developing an assay for vitamin D deficiency.
Active-B12 or holotranscobalamin (HoloTC) represents the (typically) 25% fraction of vitamin B12 in the blood that is biologically available and Axis-Shield has developed patented assays to determine blood levels of this marker as an effective way of detecting deficiency of this important vitamin.
