The HAPPY AUDIT project team will study the incidence of respiratory tract infections among patients in general practice and carry out research based on audit registration to explore the existing use of diagnostic tools in patients with respiratory tract infections.Based on results from audit registrations in primary health care, the team will develop locally adapted intervention programmes, including guidelines, courses for GPs, workshops and patient information leaflets for improving the quality of antibiotic prescription. CRP-testingThe overall objective of the HAPPY AUDIT intervention programme is to reduce the occurrence of bacterial resistance by reducing the prescribing rate and by improving the use of appropriate antibiotics in respiratory tract infections. The project team has chosen CRP testing as one of the interventions in primary care for improving the management of respiratory tract infections.Distribution of NycoCard CRP test systems and practical training will start up in October 2008. 400 GP's from Spain, Lithuania, Russia and Argentina will participate in this part of the study. The Axis-Shield team is looking forward to cooperating with the project group!
