Description:
A simple reagin slide test to measure the presence of non-treponemal antibodies produced as a consequence of syphilitic infection.
Features:
Carbon particles allow results to be ready by eye,
Smooth reagent preparation causes good result definition and high sensitivity,
Assay can be used qualitatively or quantitatively,
Liquid reagents can be used with serum or plasma,
Suitable for use in blood donor screening,
Kits and components available with good stability.
Kit Components:
Reagin antigen, dispensing bottle and needle, disposable test cards, reagin positive control serum, reagin negative control serum.
Assay Protocol:
1. Using a disposable pipstir or similar device, dispense one drop (0.05ml) of serum or plasma onto a circle on the test card
2. Repeat, dispensing each sample with a fresh pipstir onto a separate circle
3. Using flat end of pipstir, spread sample over entire area of circle
4. Gently shake dispensing bottle and dispense one drop of antigen onto each test circle. DO NOT RESTIR
5. Rotate on automatic rotator for 8 minutes at 100rpm
6. Read results.
Performance:
1047 samples were tested and all gave the correct result:
700 negative serum
55 positive serum
200 negative plasma
92 positive plasma.
